The Support Service Division consists of the Communications (Dispatch), Records, Information Technology, School Resource Officers, Traffic Unit, Recruiting, and Community Projects.

Records

The Schertz Police Department Records Section is open Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. The employees in this section are responsible for processing and maintaining files related to all incoming police reports. If a copy of a report or request for information is needed, the Records section can help with your needs.

Communications Unit (Dispatch)

The 911 Communications Center is considered the backbone of Department operations and works alongside the Patrol Division maintaining a 24-hour a day / 7-days a week coverage. Communications officers assigned to this section are the first step in generating an emergency response or call for service. This section dispatches Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Service units for the Cities of Schertz and Cibolo as well as other City services such as Schertz Animal Control and Public Works when an immediate response is required. Dispatchers assigned to this section are also instrumental in coordinating combined response efforts between other local and State law enforcement agencies.

Traffic Enforcement

The Schertz Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement was designed with the community in mind. Over the years, the city has received a growing volume of traffic-related complaints from the citizens that cannot be handled by the patrol division without taking officers away from their patrol duties. This created a feeling among the department that we were not fully serving the citizens at our full potential and needed to do more.

Our Traffic Enforcement responsibilities include traffic enforcement, traffic planning, and other programs that may alleviate some of the calls on our patrol division to better serve the citizens and the community.

School Resource Officer

The School Resource Officer (SRO) assigns Schertz Police Department officers to assist the Schertz Cibolo Universal City Independent School District (SCUCISD). SROs provide law enforcement and security services to several primary education campuses throughout the City of Schertz.

Community Projects

Community Projects Office is a branch of Support Services of the Schertz Police Department. The duties involve providing crime prevention and safety resources to the community through programs, presentations, and information. The Community Projects office also serves as a communication source to the community in addressing crime and safety concerns and the development of new/innovative crime prevention and safety initiatives for the community.

Attached to the Support Services Division is the Special Projects Officer, Officer Anna Kraft. Officer Kraft is in charge of services such as the Citizens Police Academy and Crime Prevention. Officer Kraft is normally available Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., but can adjust her shift to accommodate special groups such as Neighborhood Watch Programs and Homeowners Association meetings.

Mission

Providing crime prevention, safety, and community relations to make the community of Schertz a safe and secure place to live and work.
