The ultimate aim of this program is to improve relationships and reduce perceived suspicions and misconceptions by establishing mutual trust and cooperation between citizens and the Schertz Police Department.
This unique and engaging ten-week course is aimed at adults aged 18 and older. Its purpose is to educate the public about various aspects of police work within the City of Schertz, including the different divisions, the training officers undergo, and the dangers faced by the force on a daily basis. Each week, participants have the opportunity to hear from officers across various divisions, who share details about their duties, training, and experience requirements. Members receive handouts filled with additional information and statistics and participate in "hands-on" experiences to help them understand what it's like to wear a badge in the City of Schertz.
Please note that the Citizens Police Academy does not provide students with any police officer certifications or qualifications; it is intended for educational purposes only.
