The Schertz Police Department is seeking those individuals within the community who are willing to volunteer for specific tasks and duties within the department. The duties assigned can create efficiencies for the department and improve services to the community. In addition, volunteers can bring new skills and expertise to the job and prompt new enthusiasm.

Volunteers are intended to supplement and support, rather than supersede, sworn officers and civilian personnel. Volunteer opportunities will be flexible for those interested. Opportunities can be daily, weekly, monthly, or annually.

Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older (21 years of age for Citizens on Patrol), attend the Citizens Police Academy, and have no felony convictions. Misdemeanor offenses will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Opportunities Include:

  • Citizens on Patrol

  • Animal Services
  • Citizens Police Academy Alumni
