Heading out of town? Our free Vacation House Watch service provides residents with peace of mind while they are away. To request a house watch, please complete our Vacation House Watch form and submit it in person at the police department. Officers and Citizens on Patrol volunteers will monitor your property during your absence. If you return earlier than planned or decide to extend your trip, please notify our dispatch center at (210) 619-1200 and inform the dispatcher of your changes.
This service does not include apartments or vacant houses. We suggest you also make arrangements with a neighbor to watch your home during your absence as well.
The Vacation House Watch Program allows Schertz residents to register their homes for periodic patrols during their time away. Officers or Citizen's on Patrol volunteers will conduct extra checks of the property to deter crime and ensure everything looks secure.
Once a home is registered, officer or volunteers will include it in their patrols for the duration of the registered absence. They will visually inspect the property for signs of unusual activity or disturbances and respond accordingly if needed.
