Schertz EMS is launching a new initiative that assists in the "golden hour" of emergency care following a traffic crash when they may not be able to communicate their needs themselves. Placing a Yellow Dot decal in your vehicle's rear window alerts first responders to check your glove compartment for vital information to ensure you receive the medical attention you need. The Yellow Dot Program is a free service to our community that allows first responders to have a detailed medical history of those patients that are special needs and/or high acuity.

The program started in 2002 in Connecticut and began to grow state by state. By May 2011, numerous cities and counties in at least 8 states had adopted the program. Some places have not only used Yellow Dot but have merged to place the stickers on patients' homes as well.

Participating in the Yellow Dot Program could help families and loved ones as first responders can find out vital information sooner during those critical moments. The program is open to people of all ages with different medical conditions within all of our response areas. *Schertz, Cibolo, Universal City, Selma, Live Oak, Marion, Santa Clara, and parts of Comal County.
