[ARCHIVED] Utility Billing Update

Utility Bill Notice

Due to the severe winter storm and freezing temperatures, residents may have taken the safety measures to leave faucets dripping inside of their homes to prevent pipes from freezing. Due to this and other factors like pipe breaks, water consumption was 20.3 million gallons higher city wide, this 75% higher than normal.

Both Cibolo Creek Municipal Authority (CCMA), which treats the majority of the city's wastewater, and the Schertz Seguin Local Government Corporation, which supplies the city's water, have agreed to charge Schertz the lower usage between January 2021 and February 2021 for services in February. This would be a savings to the City of Schertz and lower the expenditures the city would normally have to pay.

During the March 8 Special Called City Council Meeting, an ordinance was passed that allows the saving the city will be receiving to be passed on to the customer using this same method. Customers will be charged the lower of their January or February water usage. If you used more water in February than in January, you will receive a credit for the difference. These adjustments apply only to those residents that receive a City of Schertz utility bill and will be seen on the bills customers receive in March. This adjustment will also be taken into consideration when calculating sewer average.

If you have additional questions, please contact the Utility Billing Office at (210) 619-1100 or email businessoffice@schertz.com.
