Bexar County, Texas

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will conduct an Open House for the proposed widening of Farm-to-Market (FM) 1518 from FM 78 to Interstate (I) 10 in Bexar County, Texas. The project distance is approximately 5.5 miles. The Open House will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Schertz Civic Center, Grand Ballroom located at 1400 Schertz Parkway, Building 5, Schertz, TX 78154. The Open House will have no formal presentation and attendees can come-and-go at their convenience.

The purpose of the Open House is to present the planned improvements to the public and gather input on the proposed project. The study team, including TxDOT staff, will be on hand to discuss the proposed project and answer questions.

The proposed project would widen FM 1518 within the project limits to accommodate an additional travel lane in each direction, a raised median, shared-use path, and sidewalks. The project would potentially require approximately 28 acres of new right-of-way (ROW). The project is proposed to be completed in phases due to funding constraints.

All interested citizens are invited to attend this Open House. Written comments from the public regarding this project are requested. Written comments may be submitted in person, by mail, or email to Poznecki-Camarillo, Inc., Environmental Project Manager, 5835 Callaghan Road Suite 200, San Antonio, Texas 78228, FM1518Project@pozcam.com. Written comments must be postmarked by December 14, 2017, to be included in the official open house record.

The Open House will be conducted in English. Spanish-speaking project representatives will be available at the Open House. Persons interested in attending the meeting who have special communication or accommodation needs, or need for an interpreter, are encouraged to call (210) 349-3273. Requests should be made at least five days prior to the Open House. Every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate these needs.

If you have any general questions or concerns regarding the proposed project or the Open House, please contact Richard De La Cruz at (210) 615-6434 or Richard.DeLaCruz@txdot.gov.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
