Inspection Request Process
Inspection requests for work done on permitted projects must be requested through the online “Request an Inspection” system.
Inspections shall be requested and received by the department no later than 6:00 am. Any Inspection received after 6:00 am will be performed the next business day. Emergency inspections will be given priority at the determination of the Chief Building Official.
If re-inspection fees are due a project and a subsequent inspection has been requested on the same project, inspectors have the discretion to cancel the inspection with notification to the contractor until all fees due the project are paid.
The following information is required in order to schedule an inspection:
- Building permit number;
- Type of inspection;
- Physical address of property to be inspected and subdivision name
- Builders name and contact information; and
The following are inspections required by the City of Schertz. The number and order of inspections may vary based on the extent and type of project.
Water Meter Set Request

- Re-inspections after first, per trade - $100
NOTE: if re-inspections has been called for and the second inspection revealed the original turn down items have not been corrected in part or whole, in addition to the above fees, a seventy two (72) hour notice of inspection shall be required before another re-inspection will be conducted.

Outdoor construction hours in are as follows:
- Monday - Friday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday - Outdoor work is prohibited
According to Ordinance 13-H-51, Section 54-14 (8): Commercial contractors are prohibited from the erection (including excavation), demolition, alteration or repair work on any building or structure other than between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Commercial contractors are prohibited from outdoor work involving erection (including excavation), demolition, alteration or repair work on unoccupied structures on Sundays. An exception can be made in case of urgent necessity in the interest of public safety and convenience, and then only by written permit from the city manager or his/her designee, which permit may be renewed by the city manager or his/her designee, during the time the emergency exists.
