On August 11, 2020, City Council awarded a construction contract to San Antonio Constructors for the rehabilitation of Cherry Tree Drive as part of the 2020 SPAM program.
The Cherry Tree Drive project will rehabilitate the street between Meadowhead Drive and Harvest Drive. Rehabilitating the street entails removal of the old asphalt after which the base material will be cement stabilized by mixing in cement and re-shaping it to form a new, stronger base for a fresh two-inch layer of asphalt. The new pavement structure will be stronger and more durable than the existing pavement. Also included in the project will the replacement of several sections of curb and gutter and an extension of the existing sidewalk north of Cliffside Drive down to Harvest Drive. Sidewalk ramps will be replaced and installed where necessary within the project area.
Construction is expected to take about 45 days and the contractor is planning to begin the week of November 9th. There will be times during construction where street parking will be prohibited and access may be delayed, however the contractor will do their best notify residents and limit any inconveniences.
Construction Start: November 2020
Estimated Construction Final Completion: December 2020
Construction Budget: $300,600
Funding Source: Certificates of Obligation for Road Improvements and Excess General Fund Reserves earmarked for SPAM.
