Volunteer Program

Volunteer Auxiliary Banner

The Schertz Police Department is seeking those individuals within the community who are willing to volunteer for specific tasks and duties within the department. The duties assigned can create efficiencies for the department and improve services to the community. In addition, volunteers can bring new skills and expertise to the job and prompt new enthusiasm.

Volunteers are intended to supplement and support, rather then supersede, sworn officers and civilian personnel. Volunteer opportunities will be flexible for those interested. Opportunities can be daily, weekly, monthly or annually.

Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older (21 years of age for Citizens on Patrol) and have no felony convictions. Misdemeanor offenses will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Opportunities Include:

  • Citizens on Patrol (Must be a graduate from the Citizens Police Academy)
  • Victim Services
  • Animal Services
  • Community Outreach
  • Records Unit
  • Detective assistance
  • Quartermaster / Facility Care

Applications are available and can be returned in person, by mail, or fax to:
