The Schertz Public Library held an annual summer reading program to include both reading and activities that promoted literacy in the times of social distancing. All patrons youth-adult participated in the exact same program called the Schertz Public Library Summer Reading Experience. Below are some of the materials we used this past summer and winter:
Summer Reading Flyer
The flyer linked above was used to advertise the Schertz Public Library's 2021 Summer Reading Experience for all ages.
Summer Reading Experience Card 2021
The Summer Reading experience card linked above is the tool that summer reading participants used to track their reading and activity progress this summer. Participants were able to complete up to two experience cards and patrons had a choice to complete reading and activities or they could opt to read 30 min per day for any activity they didn't want to do or weren't able to do.
Senior Center SRC Program
In addition to our traditional summer reading program, we also offered a modified program for the seniors who attend the Schertz Senior Center that corresponded to the same theme, Tales and Tails.
Winter Reading Challenge
The Schertz Public Library also holds a Winter Reading Club each January. In 2021, we held a Winter Reading Challenge called the Oh What Fun! Read 5 Winter Reading Challenge. Patrons could choose to read either 5 books or 5 hours during the designated time frame. Below is the reading log and flyer the library used for Winter Reading 2021.
