Provide cultural, topical, and educational programming for adults and families

Providing cultural, topical, and educational programming for adults and families is a main focus of the Schertz Public Library. Our library strives to deliver a variety of quality programs each year for patrons of all ages. Below are a few of our 2021 programs:

Storytime in the Courtyard
During the months of October and November, in-person storytime returned to the Schertz Public Library Courtyard. Storytime was available for babies, toddlers, and preschool age children. Take and make crafts were also available.

Extreme Book Nerd Challenge
Extreme Book Nerd Challenge is the Schertz Library's annual reading challenge for patrons. 2021 was our fourth year to offer this program and we continue to include a prize option for everyone. Instead of requiring everyone to read 25 books, we offer the following: Readers' Dozen (13 books), Book Nerd (25 books), or Extreme Book Nerd (52 books). More information on the challenge can be found here http://www.schertz.com/613/Extreme-Book-Nerd-Challenge.

Qigong in the Courtyard
Qigong is an exercise practice similar to Tai Chi that is inspired by nature. Qigong was held in the library courtyard once a month October-December 2021.

Scrapbooking lessons
Our local scrapbooking expert, Kristin, offered to teach both virtual and in-person scrapbooking lessons throughout 2021. The 101 class explains what materials are needed and provides an introduction to layout and design. The more advanced classes explore embellishments and other techniques such as pronto pages and digital scrapbooking.
