General Information
Location:
The City of Schertz is located between the Cities of Austin and San Antonio,
on Interstate 35, and on Interstate 10 between San Antonio and Houston.
The corporate limits extend into the Counties of Bexar, Guadalupe and
Comal. The largest portion of the City is within Guadalupe County
FM 3009, FM 78 and Sc hertz Parkway provide major thoroughfares into and
through Schertz. Southern Pacific, Missouri
Pacific, Missouri Kansas, and Texas Railroad provide rail services into
the Schertz and San Antonio areas.

Government:
The City of Schertz government is a Council-Manager form
of government. The City Council serve as the policy-making body, with
a City Manager appointed to serve as the Chief Administrative Officer.
City Hall and Schertz Municipal Court are located at 1400 Schertz Parkway.

The City
of Schertz's water supply is drawn from wells over the Carrizo
Wilcox Aquifer in Gonzales County. This 50-year drought resistant
supply is carried through a 52-mile pipeline to the cities of Schertz
and Seguin. This high quality water supply is managed by the Schertz
- Seguin Local Government Corporation.
Credit
Cards Accepted
Three
City departments – Water Billing, Inspections, and EMS - are now accepting
credit cards.
Payments can be
made with Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit and debit cards, in person,
at the respective departments. There is a 4 percent charge for credit
cards and a 57 cent charge for debit cards.
Guadalupe
County has an annex at 1101 Elbel Road. Services include
adult and juvenile probation offices, tax office, auto registration. elections
office, Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace and Constable's offices, and Veterans

Banking:
There are 2 credit unions (Randolph and SSFCU) and 4 banks (Schertz, State
Bank & Trust, Bank One and Broadway) with all the new facilities at
IH 35/FM 3009 intersection along with one location on Main Street.
These are located strategically to serve the citizens and local businesses.
Churches:
Churches of all denominations are located in Schertz and the surrounding
area.
Medical
Services:
There are over 8,000 hospital beds located within our area, in some of
the best hospitals in the country. In addition, there are two medical
clinics located in Schertz. Dental and veterinary services are readily
available.
Library:
The Schertz Public Library
offers more than 56,000 items for your reading and viewing pleasure, including
books, magazines, DVDs, videos, audiobooks and music CDs. The library
also offers public internet access, Inter-Library Loan service and programming
for children.
