Nature Discovery Series


Does your little one enjoy being outdoors and searching for creepy crawlies? Do Mom and Dad want to get the family outside more enjoying time together? Then the Nature Discovery Series is for you! The program is designed for families with elementary-aged children, but older and younger siblings are welcome too! Texas Master Naturalist volunteers lead the themed programs which are listed below. 

The program is free, but pre-registration is required. Please call the Parks & Recreation Office to register at (210) 619-1850. Space is limited.

Discover What’s Swimming – Saturday, May 5 10:00 - 11:00 AM, Crescent Bend Nature Park

There's secret life in water. With dip-nets and clear containers, we capture and discuss macroinvertebrates, habitat and food chain. Terms used; upstream, downstream, oxygen, diversity, larva, nymph, adult.

Discover a Bug's World – Saturday, June 2 10:00 - 11:00 AM, Crescent Bend Nature Park
The world needs bugs! Interpreters will show how insects are an integral part of the natural world. A world without insects would be a fundamentally changed world with human consequences.
