Understanding Your Bill

The City of Schertz has created an Understanding Your Bill document to help you better read and understand the elements on your monthly utility bill. If you have any questions please call the Utility Billing Office at (210) 619-1000. 

Water Rates

The City uses a tiered water consumption rate structure which charges you more, the more water you use (higher usage equals higher base rate). If you have any questions about water rates, contact the Utility Billing Office. 

Sewer Rates

Sewer Averaging

Sewer averaging for the winter months begins on November 1 and will continue through March 15,  for cycle billing. Water usage over this period determines your sewer charge for the next billing year, which begins April 1. The water usage readings will be averaged and the average per thousand-gallon usage per month will be multiplied by $4.75. That total will be added to the base rate of $14.43 for residents with an average below 12,000 gallons.
