Community

Our community is recognized nationally as one of the top 40 “best places to live in the country” by CNN/Money. How do we do it? It’s not just our many festivals, including Jubilee, and Holidazzle, along with other festivals all year long. It’s things like Schertz Magazine, our award winning publication. This high quality magazine goes to every household in the community monthly and highlights the best we have to offer from our neighbors, businesses and community. Our partnerships with the YMCA and local sports organizations are great opportunities for keeping fit and enjoying world class youth sports programs. Schertz is also a historic community and our Historic Preservation Committee is the place to start if you are interesting in learning how we came to be Schertz in the first place.

There are thousands of details that have to be managed in order to make a good city great. Our public servants are the best you will find in any city. Our Police, Fire, and EMS departments are here to make sure you are safe and secure. Our Parks, Library, and Public Works staff work hard to ensure that your experiences with the City are positive. Whether you are a resident or a business, our team of dedicated people work hard to make sure our community lives up to your expectations.

Opportunities

The City of Schertz is full of opportunities for you, whether you are a young family raising kids or a Fortune 100 company looking to locate facilities in the nation’s hottest business corridor. Our Development Services and Engineering staff can help you locate or expand your business. Our Boards and Commissions are great places for our citizens to serve the community. We also are proud supporters of the Schertz Chamber of Commerce and encourage our business community to participate in our Chamber.

Leadership Programs

Schertz prides itself in providing vision and leadership to the region. Our programs include EMS services for eight cities and an independent water corporation serving the needs of five area communities. While these programs benefit the whole region, they also provide for cost effective services and the very best programs that only a larger service can provide. The Schertz City Council and City Manager’s Office works closely with leaders in both the region and State to ensure the interests of Schertz are being met and we are able to continue to enjoy the quality of life we’ve grown accustom to here in Schertz.

Citizens

Two special groups of citizens that make Schertz such a wonderful place to be include our military personnel and volunteers. First, to our military service men and women, both active duty and retired, thank you for your service to our Country and for choosing Schertz as your home and place of work. You are the truly the score of our community and we appreciate you every single day. Second, to the many volunteers who spend countless hours volunteering throughout our city, your work makes the programs we enjoy possible and to you we say thank you from the City of Schertz.

We truly have it all here in Schertz: community, service, and opportunity!
